Ground Coffee- One of Life’s Little Luxuries

Life is full of luxuries that you can treat yourself with once in a while.  Ground coffee allows you to have a treat every single day.  There is no need to wait until you go out to sample some of the world’s finest coffees; it is possible to make it yourself in the comfort of your own home, or even in the work place.  Not every luxury is so accessible so why not indulge in something so simple that brings so much pleasure.

Anytime is Right for a Delicious Cup of Coffee

The secret of the best coffees is the blend and there are so many to choose from.  You can go for something with an acidic kick to really liven you up in the morning.  Try something mellow and calming to relax at the end of a hard day, perhaps with a hint of blackcurrant.  And finish a romantic evening with something rich and exotic with a chocolate after taste to really impress your date.

Make Every Cup Count

Coffee brings income into communities where employment is often hard to come by.  The Fair-trade range of ground coffee helps to improve the amenities in these local communities.  All of the workers from the farmers to the coffee cherry pickers are paid well for their labours.  And the Fair-trade fees allow the communities as a whole to benefit.

Many of the products which are created under the Fair-trade trademark make sure that their local health services are improved.  This involves putting money into clinics and hospitals and also into pharmacies.  Some of them choose to ensure the future of the forests and local environment to make sure that the generations to come can benefit from the beauty, the food and the jobs which the forests create.

Something for Everyone

Not everybody wants to feel the benefits that caffeine can give you.  If you love the taste of coffee but find it difficult to sleep after a late afternoon or evening drink then caffeine is not the best choice to make.  Ground coffee comes in decaffeinated varieties.  You get the same great taste without the worry of staying awake at night.  It is also a good choice to make if you need to cut down on caffeine for medical reasons.

On the other hand you may want something powerful to really awaken your senses.  There are some blends which are created to deliver power with ever sip you take.  These are perfect for those mornings when you need a little help to wake you up and prepare for a full day ahead.

You get flavour as well as stimulation and these types of ground coffee are not recommended for bed time.

Ground coffee delivers taste, stimulation and a taste of luxury every time. There are many different blends to choose from so there is a ground coffee for every occasion and any time of the night or day.

The Many Faces and Tastes of Ground Coffee

The Many Faces and Tastes of Ground Coffee

When looking for a ground coffee sometime you can be out faced with the number of coffee bags that are staring back at you from the shelves. Which one to buy with many different ways of using a ground coffee, like pour and serve machines, also better know as a ground coffee machine, cafetiere, traditional coffee machines and bulk brewers or  filter machines offering anything from 1 cup to 20 litres of ground coffee which one should you choose?

If the coffee is ground too fine this will not be suitable for a cafetiere as the grinds will filter through the mess of the cafetiere making a bitty drink, However some coffee roasters make Omni Ground Coffees that are specially ground to suit all types of equipment so if you are not sure I would recommend you try an omni ground coffee this would be the best coffee for cafetiere.

I personnel like to buy my coffee direct from a specialist Coffee Wholesaler.

Where they take the hard work out of choosing for you, listing coffees that are best suited to each type of usage as well as listing out all the origins and different taste profiles to make your life easier. One online coffee wholesaler that I particularly favour is coffeebuyer.co.uk they have a great range for you to choose from and you can buy by the bag as well as by the case.

So once you have decided on which roast ground coffee best suits your way of filtering coffee what coffee blends do you go for?

If find that Italian ground coffee is a good all rounder that most people love, so if choosing a ground coffee for the first time The Italian Roasted once are always a good starting point.

If you are looking for a fair-trade/sustainable coffee then kenco have produced there Kenco sustainable development coffee to a very high standard and again I haven’t met anyone yet that doesn’t like this great medium roast everyday drinking coffee.

That just leaves us with decaffeinated coffee. Many people avoid buying decaf coffee beans purely because they don’t use a full bag of beans before they go stale. This make decaffeinated filter coffee the perfect solution available in smaller gram bags. Taylors of Harrogate offer a great blend “Decaffe” which is a medium to dark roast coffee as well as an omni ground of the highest quality.

Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, Hand-Roasted Hazelnut Ground Coffee Review

Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, Hand-Roasted Hazelnut Ground Coffee Review

Made with 100% pure Arabica coffee beans
Full bodied with an intense aroma and earthy nutty flavor
Creamy, medium roast goes well with milk and sugar
Custom roasted by hand in Camarillo, California

This coffee is amazing, smooth, and just a little sweet. Not acidic and a great aftertaste.

I was really surprised it was so good even though it was pre ground. I usually always get whole bean and grind just before i brew, but a whole bean wasnt available on Amazon so I got this instead. It is amazing coffee, and i will be ordering it again. I love coffee bean and tea leaf coffees and prefer it to Starbucks or any other brand, and I have tested out hundreds of coffees.

Love Creme Brulee from Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf. The taste is lasting and never becomes bitter. Nice to see in pack of 2. Will purchase again.

The beans are ground too coarse for making espresso. Makes a good drip coffee though.

First off, I am not looking for a mild flavored coffee with strong flavored added. I want a strong dark, espresso flavor with the added flavors that don’t have fake or bitter after tastes. This brand is the closest to the real thing.

This ones almost perfect. I’ve tried all of the ” best” brands, and this is my personal choice…by far.

Not much more to say– I live in San Francisco and there are only two Coffee Bean locations in the city, both of which were often sold out of the French Vanilla coffee since it is so very tasty. The coffee subscription option is perfect, and less expensive than buying in-store. No complaints here!

Amazing coffee! I mix half decaf and half regular to make a less strong cup of coffee. I get this on subscribe and save every month and i couldnt live without it.

This coffee is amazing, smooth, and just a little sweet. Not acidic and a great aftertaste.

Community Coffee Private Reserve Ground Coffee, Medium-Dark Roast, 100% Chicory, 12-Ounce Bags (Pack of 6)

  • Roasted and packaged in Louisiana
  • Community Coffee Company has sold the finest, fresh-roasted premium coffee in Louisiana since 1919
  • Now, you can taste the genuine flavor of New Orleans from anywhere in the world

Chicory is the roasted and ground root of the endive plant, which offsets what many refer to as the “bitter cup of coffee.” Since chicory tends to darken coffee, this darkness has often been misconstrued as meaning the coffee will be bitter or stronger. Blend Chicory with your favorite coffee to yield a rich, sweet cup of coffee.

Q&A: When I use pre ground coffee, my drip coffee maker gets clogged?

Question by Cnl Delta: When I use pre ground coffee, my drip coffee maker gets clogged?
It works fine with coffee I ground myself in a mill using the medium/normal setting (in between coarse and fine) but when I use pre-ground coffee, the machine clogs and no coffee drips out. I’ve had the same issue with 2 different machines.

What could I be missing or not doing when using store bought pre-ground coffee that’s causing the machine to clog?

Answer by Upper10th
It sounds like the store-bought coffee is too fine. Are you sure you’re buying the drip-coffee grind? It sounds like you’re buying the espresso grind.

What determines the price of coffee beans and ground coffee?

Question by mmo: What determines the price of coffee beans and ground coffee?
I just want to know why are some coffee brands more expensive than the other?

Best answer:

Answer by Amanda
More things go into the price of coffee than I can list.

1. Cost of production – it costs money to fertilize, prune, and generally take care of coffee trees, let alone the costs of harvesting the coffee and processing it until it’s stable enough to send to market. These costs alone are about US$ 1/lb, and that’s with coffee pickers paid less than sweatshop workers.

2. Cost of transportation – not as much as it used to be, but it’s tricky getting coffee from some mountainside finca over bad/nonexistent roads to a major port (which is probably in a climate that does coffee no good). Then the coffee exporter whom the coffee was sold to needs to get in touch with a coffee importer and send it off (each taking a cut of course).

3. Cost of roasting – green coffee does not make a very tasty beverage; it needs to be roasted first to turn it into the coffee we drink, which of course costs some for the fuel and some for the weight loss in roasting.

4. Cost of distribution – the now-fragile roasted coffee needs to be distributed to thousands of retail stores, each of which needs to mark up the coffee to keep the store in business.

And that’s without the costs of branding, advertising, corporate administration, and doubtless many other costs of which I am unaware.

To sum up:

1. Coffee bean prices are mostly determined by supply and demand; there’s an active coffee futures market that will tell you how much a pound of ordinary unroasted coffee goes for right now, with adjustments for high-average and low quality.

2. Ground coffee has a lot of other costs associated with it.

3. Some coffee brands take a higher markup; others just use better, more expensive coffee beans.

Question by jennifer c: how if the ground coffee beans your going to use is from starbucks?
we have this investigatory project about ground coffee beans to be used as a fertilizer and according to our researches the coffee beans also has some chemicals and nutrients that is somehow has a resemblance with a fertilizer.

Best answer:

Answer by RScott
It helps lower soil pH due to it’s acidity and is always a good thing to compost, but it’s low in nutrients. It does however grow gourmet Oyster mushrooms when combined with the coffee filters. You can get grow kits at www.FungiPerfecti.com. RScott

Question by finalfantasyzealot: what is difference between grinding your own coffee and already ground coffee?
I am debating on on buying coffee beans or coffee grounds, i dont know what is the difference between the two? Like which one is better? and such.

Best answer:

Answer by Nessa
well, already ground coffee is easy..everything’s done for you, no mess and its fresh.
grinding coffee can get annoying, since you have to take some time out to do it, but it will give you the freshest coffee possible.
none is better, its just a bit different
i personally prefer ground coffee, since i dont want to bother with grinding coffee and making a mess.
