Diedrich French Roast, Dark K-Cups for Keurig Brewers (Pack of 50)

I’ve been drinking French roast type coffees for about six or seven years now. In the office, Green Mountain is free, so I drink a lot of it. I also buy Starbucks for home brewing, which is not free…My wife recently bought me a Keurig coffee maker that came with a large sample pack.

Among the samples was the Diedrich French roast, which sent me back to school. Absolutely the best of its type I’ve ever tasted. My office coffee, which I once regarded as a gourmet blend, now seems like goat leavings by comparison. If you like the taste of coffee–I mean really like it, bold and beautiful–Diedrich’s French roast is for you.

I love a smooth, dark roast coffee. Smooth, rich, and dark. This is it. I’ve been trying as many varieities of bold and dark as I can. This one and Timothy’s Midnight Magic are my favorites so far. Parisian Nights is OK, but not quite as nice. I have yet to try an Italian roast. Mixing one of these French Roast’s with a Midnight Magic or a Parisian Nights and a shot of REAL Cream is about as good a it gets. An exquisite cup of coffee right here in my own kitchen.

Life is good :-)

I love the Keurig and I tried several coffee k-cups till I found this one. Some of the darker roasted coffees are bitter but this one is just perfect for my taste

I tried Diedrich French Roast after my first choice in subscribe and save became unavailable under that program.
I prefer a dark, very bold coffee (which I then debauch to golden with cream…yes I know, my bad) I’ve tried Parisian Nights and Dark Magic and loved both and was getting the Parisian Nights on S&S as Dark Magic wasn’t available (except at BB&B).
Unfortunately, the ‘manufacturers’ or Amazon did not offer me a way to try another type by taste, just ‘make a new selection’ so I relied on other folk’s reviews and took this.
Overall, it IS a good, dark roast but I find it not quite bold enough for how I take my coffee. (I use the 10oz cup setting on my Kuerig) It’s smooth but does finish a little too lame with cream added.
I wish there was a sampler that contained K cups from multiple manufacturers of the various types (i.e. Bold…that contained all the bolds from Coffee People, Timothy’s, Gloria Jean, Green Mountain, etc) I really hate having to buy a big box of something (like this box of 50) that really doesn’t cut it for me.
I’m going to order ‘Jet Fuel’ and hope that one does it before my next S&S shipment of this variety is due. If that one works I may just give up S&S for ordering it myself every month (the price is the same and they are both ‘Prime’ eligible)
This is a very good French Roast…just not as bold as I desire… I think it is comparabe to Emeril’s Big, Easy Bold.
Re: Packaging–> All my cups were accounted for (got 50 just like promised) and none of my K cups were damaged or empty. So right now the “Frustration Free Packaging” packaging is ok with me (50 cups loose in a single box) I have read many reviews were people were shorted cups or got damaged or empty cups however I think that is always possible even in the manufacturer’s boxes. My opinion would probably be different if the above issues had happened to me.

I absolutely love Diedrich French roast. I prefer stronger blends and this is one of the best. You won’t go wrong if a strong, smooth cup of coffee is what you’re after.

The absolute best coffee to use in a French Press

I have been a coffee addict for almost 20 years. I first began drinking coffee in college in order to stay awake for the late night study sessions. I think if it weren’t for coffee I would’ve definitely failed many of my classes. Back then I chose whatever coffee was cheapest; Folgers, Maxwell House or anything of the multitude of cheap off brands. I definitely did not have a refined palate. Anything that would give me that boost of caffeine would work just fine. But, now after 20 years of work and the trials and tribulations of life I have come to the realization that life is short. Why waste my time drinking crap coffee.

In my professional career I have worked for five companies. And, each of those companies offered some sort of free coffee in the kitchen. You have the small mom and pop operation who would pickup whatever was on sale at the grocery store that day to the large national company with a food contract with a local distributor.

The quality of the free coffee in all cases has always been in question; that and what I always found is whoever was unlucky enough to drink the last of a pot got to brew the next pot.

Now, you and I both know that people’s taste in coffee varies greatly. Some people like weak coffee, some people like coffee that will grow hair on your chest. Either way I could never count on having a consistently tasty cup of coffee. That is until I found the French Press. Now, every morning I get to my cube, pour in a measured amount of coffee grounds, carry the press to the hot water dispenser to fill it, bring it back to my desk and wait. After only 5 minutes I insert the plunger and press down. Viola, fresh brewed coffee with a consistent fantastic taste that cannot be beat.

There are three pieces that make up a great coffee experience: the aroma of the dry grounds, the heavenly smell of the brewing pot and the mind blowing tremendous taste of the final product. The French pressed coffee bean cannot be beat in either experience or taste. And, over the past two years I have experimented on different types of grind and bean to use.
Now you can benefit from my trials and get the best taste immediately. There are two to three different types of coffee that will make the whole process exquisite. If you are a dark roast lover you will want to try the New York Dark Roast grind from Coffee or Less. And, right now they have a promotion going on for Free Shipping On Orders Over . If you aren’t a dark roast type of person; I would recommend Timothy’s Kona Blend or the Parisian Blend. You can’t go wrong with either. Another great option to grind up for your French press would be the Sumatran Sunset Coffee.

Question by number_in: How does one make coffee from a french coffee presser?
can someone tell me how can I make coffee from a french coffee presser? Is there any special kind of coffee for that?

Best answer:

Answer by sirade1
You want to use Coarse ground coffee (you can use drip ground if you have to but coarse is better)

Add the amoutn of coffee you like. depends on Size of carafe, and how you like your coffee. For mine I use just over 5 sccops.

In a kettle bring your water to a boil, then pour the water into the carafe with the coffee. Wait a minute then stir to make sure all of the grounds are immersed. After aother 5 minutes use the plunger and press the grounds to the bottom of the carafe. And then enjoy.

Do French press coffee makers require different coffee grounds?

Question by epic_laydown: Do French press coffee makers require different coffee grounds?
I’m thinking of getting my dad a french press, but am afraid he’ll have to get all new coffee grounds since I read they require coarser grinds. Is that true? He has so many other coffee already ground up for his drip coffee maker. Thanks.

Answer by Mr.Jim Lahey
It’s pointless to use a french press if you are grinding ahead of time. You won’t even taste much of a difference. You should have the beans in whole form, and grind what u need just before brewing.

AND YES, the grinds should be bigger as it clogs the filter and just makes a mess.

Question by trinity082482: How many calories are in French vanilla coffee?
I love my usual coffee..

1 mug of French vanilla coffee, black with 1 sugar.

I made it at home in my coffee maker and the beans are from The Bulk Barn.

Anyone know?

Best answer:

Answer by MOM KNOWS EVERYTHING
Vanilla flavoring does not add calories. The sugar would be the only source of calorires. 1 level teaspoon of sugar has 15 calories.
